The Scamp is done!

So the Scamp is finished - more or less. We have a few things that we will be working on. The air conditioner window is one of them. Jay doesn't like his initial design and he is coming up with new ideas to make it better. We are going to redo the table because neither of us like the color (gray) and Jay wants to change the material and design. All of the other things that we want to do are just small finishing touches. She is ready to camp whenever we want to go! And we named her Marsha. Marsha Mallow, because she looks like a big marshmallow!!

We have our cushions now, straight from the Scamp dealership. They are awesome.

Jay built a drawer under the bench/bunk bed. He also made the cabinet doors, installed the backsplash and the hinged cutting board over the fridge. He will be adding a storage compartment underneath the cutting board sometime soon. We have our curtains up, which I made but I do not like. I will either make some more or maybe order some. But for now, these will work.

You can see the window where the ac unit sits over the dinette. Jay doesn't like how it turned out, so that will be redone. You can also see the table that will be redone as well.

We need to find a place to store the ac unit when the Scamp is not in use. But for now, it goes right here on the floor. Jay is going to trim out the bottom of the ensolite where it meets the floor and trim out the bottom of the benches.

Everything works great, the lights, power, water, air conditioner, fridge, etc.
Now it is time to put some miles on this camper! I love it!

  1. Hello! I love all the work you've done on your Scamp! We just got a 1987 Scamp last week and are starting the cleanup/make-it-ours process :) I noticed you put a regular kitchen faucet on your sink. How does that work? Is that why you added a city-water port? Does connecting to city water give you the water pressure you need to use the kitchen faucet just like you would in a house? Thanks for the help!

    1. Hi! Congrats on your Scamp. We actually sold this one. :( We loved it, but financially it made sense. We will own one again someday. Anyway, we removed the water holding tank and used that space for storage. We camped mostly at sites with water and electric hook ups. That is why we added the city- water hook up and removed the pump style faucet. Also, the water pressure worked just great. I don't recall if it was the same pressure as we have in our home, but it was fine for camping and worked well enough to wash dishes, use the sprayer, fill up pots, etc. It was never an issue. We went with this faucet for several reasons:

      1. It was the same matte finish at the cabinets and interior.

      2. The spout actually came out, extended and could be used as a sprayer. We used it to fill pots or buckets that were too large to fit in the small sink.

      3. The larger faucet made it easier to wash dishes and do other necessary kitchen duties.

      4. We got a great deal on this faucet! It was on clearance and it cost much less than the more cheaply made faucets.

Thanks for the questions. I am really happy for you. I hope you have tons of fun with your Scamp. If you have any other questions, ask away.
